Master of Healing

Most Ven. Rev. John Davidson
John Davidson

When I first studied with Grandmaster Lew, his senior student was John Davidson.

After Sifu Lew moved to San Diego, John became my direct teacher in the healing arts. His understanding of the healing process was extraordinary.

He taught how every part of a person’s being was present in their energy field. That included not only their physical health, but also mental, emotional and spiritual. And all of these can be re-balanced when the healer has awareness of energy.

The classes covered an amazing variety of topics. Everything from Korzybski’s General Semantics to herbal medicine. And especially, we covered a wide variety of ways to perceive and re-balance energy.

In 1985, after many years of studying with him, John informed me that at the following class there would be a final exam. I was surprised, since there had never been any sort of exam before. I had no idea what to expect.

When I got to class the day of the test, he took the three of us who were to take the exam to a different part of the school. He handed us each a copy of the exam. There were three questions:

  1. What is Shen?
  2. What are the Five Elements?
  3. Diagnose and prescribe treatment for [first name].

The first two questions counted as half the exam. They were easy. He’d taught and demonstrated these things multiple times in the course of the class.

The third question counted as the other half of the exam. It was not so easy. We were being asked to do a diagnosis of someone who wasn’t present.

Not only that, we had to do it based on their first name only. He did give us additional information. He told us she lived in a city 2 hours away. He also told us that our diagnosis had to be of this person’s health not that moment, but two years earlier.

This was an interesting challenge. It required us to apply everything we had learned, but not in current time and space. I had not used these skills in this way before. I was surprised that by following the process I’d learned from John, it was relatively easy to answer the question. I passed the exam.

This opened my eyes to the untapped potential of the healing process. This would later become crucial when I found my next mentor, Dr. Robert Anderson. More on that in another article.

In the 30 plus years since that final exam, I’ve had the privilege of exploring the healing process from many different perspectives. And there are things that I often see missing in how healers approach their work. These missing pieces are what make the difference in getting results with patients.

Because of this, starting in late August, 2016, I am going to be teaching a class. This class is for people called to do healing work.

The intent of the class is to help students take their healing work to a higher level. We are going to be diving deeply into the process to get to the core of what healing is and how to bring it about in ourselves and others. This class is a culmination of my life’s work. I’m excited that it’s time to offer it!

I’m keeping it to no more than 10 students so there will be plenty of one-on-one support. 5 spots are already taken.

I mention this to you, my readers, in case you or someone you know might benefit from the class. This won’t be open to the general public. I’m interviewing every potential student to make sure that it will be a good fit for their current needs.
