Enzymes: What They Are and Why You Need Them

I recommend taking enzymes to all my Functional Medicine patients.

Why? Let me count the ways. Actually, let Jon Barron count them. He always does a great job of explaining things.

First, it’s important to understand what enzymes are. Here is his explanation:

Enzymes are large biological molecules (mostly proteins) that speed up or catalyze chemical reactions in living organisms. They play a critical role in everyday life. In fact, they regulate every single part of your body. All of your tissues, muscles, bones, organs, and cells are run by enzymes.

In other words, they are a big deal. In essence, they make life possible. And you make less of them as you age. Which is why supplementing with them is a great idea.

Bottom Line
Is Your Head Where It Should Be?

You almost certainly have this posture problem.

I first learned this when I got an injury at the gym. After that, I could no longer walk, sit or stand up normally for months. And nothing seemed to fix it.

My first relief came after one session of Aston Patterning. This is a system created by former dancer Judith Aston-Linderoth to correct structure issues.

What I learned in the process was amazing. It turned out that the slightest change in my torso took some of the pain away. More pain relief came with changing the position of my right foot when I stood. After two sessions, I was almost pain free.

This article isn’t about Aston Patterning. But it does talk about one very common way people’s posture is off. That way is forward head position. If you sit at a computer or watch TV, you very likely have this problem. And as I found out the hard way, it can be a cause of other physical issues.

One of the Deep Causes of Aging

This article by Dr. Al Sears offers one important reason for aging.

The reason? In a word, mitochondria. Mitochondria are the powerhouses of energy in every cell.

But as we age, these energy centers become less efficient. And that leads to many problems. Less energy and inefficient organ function are just two. The process is called bioenergetic aging.

Now research has found a substance that stops, and can even reverse this problem. It’s called PQQ. The effect is has is called mitochondrial biogenesis. That means restoring healthy mitochondria.

This is exciting news for those of us who are aging. PQQ, along with CoQ10 is a one-two punch to fight aging. And it applies to both physical and mental performance.

Doctors Explain Why They Don’t Eat GMOs

This article has 2 videos at the bottom. The videos are doctors talking about why they don’t eat GMOs.

Here is a quick summary of why. Pay special attention to the first two:

  1. GMOs have increased the use of herbicides and this leads to contamination of our land, water and bodies.
  2. The impact of GMOs is poorly understood, studies harming their credibility are hidden and they have the potential to cause disease.
  3. GMOs cross-contaminate non-GMO crops and the farmer growing organic can be sued for growing a patented crop, even if on accident.
  4. Terminator seeds. GM crops are designed so they do not reproduce, leaving the farmer to re-buy seeds every year.
  5. Monsanto employees are also working in top positions in the Government.

Athletes Recover Faster with Acupuncture

If you have muscle tiredness after working out, this will interest you.

Researchers found that those athletes getting acupuncture had better performance that those who didn’t. Their muscles took longer to fatigue. And their endurance increased.

As a bonus, they felt better while training.

The article doesn’t say so, but one reason this happens is that acupuncture helps the body reach a higher state of dynamic balance. And balance is very good for performance.
