Researchers Find Gene Action Altered After Relaxation Practice

You probably know meditation is relaxing.

But that’s not all it does. It turns out that if you meditate, you are also changing your DNA.

The result? Improved immune function, more energy and better insulin balance. That’s a lot of benefit from such a simple practice.

And meditation doesn’t have to be something out there or complicated. You can get the effect from deep breathing and relaxation.

If you want to learn more, you will find all the information here.

A ‘Living Fossil’ With Life-Extending Properties

Ginkgo biloba is an amazing tree.

For one thing, it dates back 270 million years. Fossils of its leaves have been discovered from that long ago. They can even survive atomic blasts and come back strong.

Like I said, amazing.

Now research shows that it can reduce damage to DNA. It does this by reducing oxidative stress and increasing cell energy.

There is a long list of conditions that improve when taking this herb. I recommend you take a look at the article. You’ll find it on the Green Med Info site here.

First Drug to Significantly Improve Heart Failure Mortality in Over a Decade

Actually the word, “drug” doesn’t really apply to this. The reason? This improvement comes from the nutrient Coenzyme Q10.

Research shows that this nutrient cuts mortality from all causes in half. And in particular it improves heart failure mortality. This is the first improvement for heart mortality found in over a decade. That’s big news.

One ironic fact is that drugs designed to lower cholesterol reduce CoQ10. That means that statins, intended to reduce heart disease, actually can promote heart failure. Hmmm…

For more details on this, see the article here.

Statin Use May Be Linked To Musculoskeletal Conditions And Injuries

Here’s another confirmation that statins have potential problems.

Researchers found that statin users were more likely to be diagnosed with a musculoskeletal disease. These include joint pain, injuries, and muscle pain and weakness.

One of the concerns from this study is that statins are being given to young people as a preventative. Yeah, what could go wrong with that idea? Plenty.

In addition, there are multiple other problems with statins pointed out in this article. If you want to know more about these you can read the article here.

Yoga Better Than Aerobics For Clearing Cobwebs From The Mind

If you want to think more clearly, think about practicing yoga.

Researchers found that as little as one 20-minute session of Hatha yoga can increase focus, memory and the ability to use information well. For aging brains this is outstanding news.

Think about it – a short bit of relaxed exercise daily can improve focus the rest of the day. And there are no drug side effects. It’s a good thing.

You can read more about what this means here.

All the best to you for your health and happiness,
