The Crux
A Simple Way to Prevent One of Aging’s Biggest Dangers

This short article is by Dr. David Effrig, MD.

Although he is known more recently as a retirement investment writer, he practiced medicine for many years. He still writes about health matters.

The biggest danger he refers to is the risk of hip fractures. Hip fractures are deadly in the aging population. And the drugs given to supposedly prevent them don’t really help. In fact, they often make the problem worse.

But there is a very simple way to reduce the chances of your hips breaking. In fact it is so simple that you might not believe it.

I don’t want to spoil the suspense by giving you the answer here. Just click through to get the scoop. You can read it in less than a minute.

You can find the info here.

Nutritional Anarchy
Dangerous Chemical Hard to Avoid

BPA is dangerous.

How dangerous?

A recent study found that even low-level exposure contributes to a higher risk of prostate cancer later in life. In other words, this chemical predisposes a man to prostate cancer even before his is born. Yikes!

And BPA is everywhere. Can liners (all cans have them) and plastic water bottles are the most common sources.

Aside from BPA’s link to prostate cancer, it also is linked to:

  • Altered metabolism

  • Obesity

  • Glucose intolerance

  • Insulin resistance

  • Diabetes

  • Thyroid problems

  • Infertility and other reproductive problems

  • Breast cancer

Jon Barron
Doctors Don’t Know Diets

Jon Barron is looking at ironies in modern medical care.

In a previous article, he uncovered the fact that doctors overwhelmingly reject the same medical procedures they recommend for their patients when facing end-of-life decisions.

In this article, he looks at what doctors eat. His conclusion? Modern doctors often fail to follow the advice, “Physician heal thyself.”

You might be surprised by the graph he presents showing what diets doctors follow. But even more importantly, Jon gives a quick look at the pluses and minuses of 11 different diets. To me that’s the biggest value of this article.

He explores the following diets:

  • Typical American
  • American Heart Association
  • Mediterranean
  • Weight-loss, caloric restriction
  • Weight-loss, no calorie restriction
  • Meals on-the-the-go
  • Paleo
  • Lacto-ovo vegetarian
  • Gluten free
  • Vegan
  • Ornish

If you want to make a quick comparison, this is a great place to do it.
