Protein From Meat, Fish May Help Men Age Well

The thought of aging poorly is pretty awful.

People who aren’t aging well have physical weakness and cognitive decline. Their quality of life goes down quickly.

And with the Baby Boomer generation heading into retirement age, this is a big deal for lots of people.

Now research shows that men who eat higher levels of meat and fish have a 39% lower risk of mental and physical decline. That’s a big advantage.

The study was done in Japan. This means there was likely a higher percentage of fish than in the west, which may be why these benefits happened. The omega-3 fatty acids in fish support brain and cell health.

The conclusion in this article is that higher intake of healthy fats and lower intake of low-quality carbs is the ideal mix.

I would add that if you want to get it exactly right, you need to listen to your body’s response to food. And it helps if you can zero in on the right types of food for your unique metabolism. The best way to do both is with Metabolic Typing®.

A Problem We All Face

Toxins now enter our bodies from everywhere

They come in through the air we breathe. They exist in the water we drink. You can find them in the food we eat. Even your skin can absorb them. No matter where you live or how careful you are, you cannot avoid them.

Arsenic and lead are among the most common. All interfere with normal body function.

But you don’t have to sit by while this is going on. If you want to take steps to reduce your toxic load, you can.

Medical approaches include EDTA. But it can move toxins too quickly and cause side effects. It can also take out good minerals with the bad.

There are other, more natural ways to get rid of toxins. They work more easily and gently. This article by Dr. Al Sears list 4 very good ones. I would add to the list N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC).

Flu Vaccine Has 25,000 Times Higher Mercury Level Than EPA Limit For Water

Every flu season you are bombarded with reminders to get a flu shot.

But is it a good idea? Possibly not.

The folks at Natural News tested one of these vaccines and found it had 25,000 times the mercury than the EPA allows in water. This is higher than the same test found in tuna and ocean fish, which are known for high mercury. In fact it is 100 times higher than these.

And although the packaging didn’t mention mercury, it did mention formaldehyde, a nerve toxin.

Remember also that this is being injected directly into your body. That means you don’t have the normal filters to block absorbing it.

Men’s Health Greatly Improved By This One Thing

Father’s day is far behind us. And so is Men’s Health Month.

But the issues affecting men’s health are there all year long. These include

  • Blood sugar issues.

  • Hypertension.

  • High BMI (Body Mass Index – a measure of weight)

  • Other signs of metabolic syndrome.

Obviously lifestyle contributes. Exercise, smart eating and getting enough sleep are crucial. But there is another factor for men, especially as they age.

That factor is testosterone levels. Over 1/3 of men over 45 have low blood testosterone levels. And when these levels are low, all of the above problems increase. Adequate levels have many benefits. These include:

  • Improves insulin resistance.

  • Reduces belly fat.

  • Lowers heart disease risk.

There are ways to improve testosterone levels besides the need for injections. It helps to have an idea of whether or not they are low to start. The best way to test that is with a salivary hormone test. I offer these to patients in my office.

What’s In Your Main Course?

Everything in the food chain is interconnected.

What does this mean for your health? Simply that there can be unintended consequences from food production practices.

For example, the very high use of antibiotics in factory farms has increased the presence of MRSA. MRSA is otherwise known as a “superbug” because it is a staph infection the defies antibiotics.

This article talks about the use of antibiotics for livestock. 70% of these sold in the U.S. are used on animals, most of whom aren’t even sick. The result is that factory farmed chicken, cows and pigs can harbor MRSA.

The answer? Eat naturally raised, ideally organic meats. Avoid factory farmed animal proteins. Simple.
